Experiência positiva: The space and community is wonderful. The yoga classes are all from really well curated teachers. The reason I removed one star is that the classes aren’t really Power Yoga. From those I attended, they were gentle, non-sweaty classes for beginners/intermediate. I would have loved some harder Power classes as well.

Experiência fantástica: BARAZA is a lovely yoga studio in Lisbon. The space is clean and modern. The instructors are knowledgeable in what they do and friendly. I really enjoyed the classes they taught. Water and mats available. I would recommend this studio for travellers, as their new client membership is a great way to do classes in an affordable way. I’m travelling from Australia all around Europe, and I love studios that do this!

Experiência positiva: Beautiful studio, v reliable and organised, I stopped going because it was almost entirely white western women - teachers and students, didn’t feel like a place for me/ anyone different. I also left because there was no focus on development of personal practise, felt more like an exercise class. A couple of the teachers are good tho

The energy of the place and the teachers is magical, the flows are strong and powerful and well balanced with also pranayama, yogui philosophy or meditations. The community is welcoming and loving. I cannot recommend it enough!!!

Luckily I was staying right down the street from the location so I was able to attend almost on a daily basis during my stay in Lisboa! Reason being, the studio is beautiful and clean, the teachers are always varied so the classes are a good mix, and lastly the community is one of a kind. Highly recommend checking them out. I will definitely come back when i return to Lisboa!

Experiência negativa: Not a good place to practice, not for me at least. I find the space claustrophobic and the air circulation and quality very poor. The aircon grid was all dusty and one of the two small windows had mold all around. Besides all this, during a class I began the sequence with the wrong leg: a female teacher came to me and "knocked" energically on my shoulder to catch my attention, without even trying with a verbal adjustment first. It was a very intrusive touch, almost violent. This is the abc of teaching yoga. Then, there's no space to get changed, and the blocks are visibly very dirty. All this just made me stop going to this studio.

From retreats, yoga sessions to their events, Alex and Ruby do everything with a personal touch. Their studio has enabled me to make new friends and develop my yoga practice. Thank you Baraza

Experiência negativa: I used to love this yoga studio for its diverse classes, but it recently took a political stance, very one sided, failing to express a balanced - full of nuanced conflict . Yoga should heal. and unite, not divide. I say it with a heavy heart, but I no longer feel the same sense of safety nor welcome in Baraza, and after their recent acts, I don't think I can learn something from them about unity and non judgment.

Experiência positiva: Ambiance, space, community and the teachers are ! It’s my favorite yoga studio in town. The only thing that I noticed is they often don’t correct beginner student. Power yoga is a strong practice and not easy sometimes for some. I saw so many people with the wrong postures (sometimes just the wrong foot alignment) & saw that the teacher noticed it but didn’t correct it.

Experiência fantástica: I have practised yoga for over 8 years and my one class at Baraza was amazing and really a unique experience. The interior, the flow and tempo, the contact with the teacher, and the live music by the end, all elements that I enjoyed. The only thing I'm sad about is, that they don't have a studio in Copenhagen, where I live.

Experiência fantástica: Did such a nice class today, the power flow; great music and great teacher. It has been a long time I did such a tough class, but all levels were offered so it is accessible if you’re not super trained! The studio is bright, has a good separation so you don’t see the street during the practice. High quality mats are available (bring a euro for it!) There are lockers to put your bag as well.

Ruby and Alex have created a peaceful and welcoming space giving you the best yoga experience in the city.

It had been some time since I had stepped into a studio thanks to an introduction to this studio by a friend and it being so near to where I frequent, I woke up early to attend class. The team was very welcoming and they have everything you need to feel comfortable. Juliana was the teacher and led us through a lovely flow that kept me present and playful. Experiência fantástica: BARAZA is one of the best Yoga studios I have been to in my whole life! The owners Alex & Ruby are the most welcoming hosts, every single teacher is incredible and the space is stunning! A great Community hub of wonderful beings!

Experiência negativa: Probably the least loving yoga studio I've ever been to. I arrived 5 minutes late to class, and a very rude blonde lady signalled me to leave from inside the place without even wanting to have a short conversation. Payed €13 for a class I wasn't allowed to go to, no refunds, nothing. 0 flexibility, 0 compassion. The path of YOGA is the exact opposite of this studio and their ridiculous "policies" and lack of warmth. Clearly a posh space seeking to make a profit more so than to spread the power of the practice. You'll definitely feel more welcomed and appreciated at your local Finanças office.

Experiência fantástica: I recently took the most energizing flow class with Liza Puglia. Her way of communicating is beautiful and authentic and the flow left me feeling incredibly energized and grounded. Her intention was transferred exquisitely to us all. The whole class left with big smiles. Covid protocols were strictly adhered to but it didn’t get in the way of the class at all. Can’t wait to go back to another one of her clases again soon

Experiência fantástica: What an incredible studio. Doesn’t matter where in the world you are from, the second you walk in, you are met with warm and hospitality. The instructors are professional but each bringing a different aspect to their practice and thus to their class. Teachers from all parts of the world - and patrons of all walks of life - there for either a deep & meaningful practice or for a great workout - smiles guaranteed.

Experiência fantástica: Baraza Yoga is the sort of studio you'd create if you could create your own yoga studio - there's natural light, a high ceiling, just off the street and easy to get to but classes are behind a pale curtain so feel private, you can rent a mat if you need to, you can leave your own mat in the big cupboard if you're coming back, the washrooms are clean and attractive, if you need to change clothes, there's a spot for that too. And it's always so welcoming - Alex seems to know your name after just one visit. I have now had at least one class with every teacher and they are all excellent - super professional but each with their own style which means you can keep changing it up. The schedule is great with lots of options and they use the Mindbody app. Unless specified, the yoga is almost always what I would call athletic Vinyasa flow. Two things I appreciate - classes are a full 60 minutes and latecomers are not admitted. Most classes are nicely full and I have been to a few where there was not a spare inch - which I thought would be unpleasant but you learn to stay within the footprint of your mat and there is actually something quite energizing about an entire room breathing and moving all together. Very happy I found Baraza.

Experiência fantástica: The sweat dripping down my body as I my knees cracked getting in to a yogi squat, the look of pure disdain towards the instructor. Is this agony just temporary or will I somehow get into a rhythm where every deep breath is not muzzling a grimace? Dante wrote about nine circles of hell in his epic, each sequence felt like the next torturous ring of doom. At one point, mid boat pose I thought I saw a light telling me it was ok to submit and come into the afterlife. Then Shivasana, A relief, an appreciation for what had just happened, and strong sense of happiness. Baraza, A wonderful flowy and incredibly challenging practice, never have I loved and hated a place so much at the same time. 5 stars hands down for pushing my boundaries day in and day out.
