Fantastic bunch of people with great spirit and soul of BJJ. Wife and I have been travelling Europe for the last 3months from Australia. Experiência fantástica: The wife and I were on vacation from the U.S. in Porto for one week in late July 2025. We trained BJJ at Tribo Jiu Jitsu twice. Such a great academy. Professor Emmanuel and all of his students were so welcoming. Well structured instruction and drilling period, followed by some great rolls with great people. It was awesome learning Jiu Jitsu in the Portuguese language - even though we speak four words of Portuguese. Hahaha. Jiu Jitsu is a universal language in so many respects. Professor Emmanuel and his students were very patient with us - and he speaks good English as well. So glad to have had this experience. If ever in Porto, please support and train at Tribo Jiu Jitsu!! You won't regret it.

Learned new transitions, emanuel is a very good teacher with an eye for detail. So I appreciate the tips. Then we rolled, got nice and exhausted. Had the pleasure to roll with emanuel as well. So I had a good time. They are almost like a group of friends, low key so I felt welcome.

Emanuel was really warm and welcoming along with the entire class too. It is a great environment to learn and get some good rolls in. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in Porto.

I didn’t have a gi with me so he lent me one. I had only intended to train once or twice for the week I was in Porto but the vibes were so nice I went back every evening. Really special place.

This was my first time visiting a gym outside of my hometown, and I was initially quite nervous, especially as a foreigner. The professor, Emanuel, was very warm and welcoming, and all of the students I met were friendly and helpful, which I really appreciated as a beginner white belt. I also appreciated being able to borrow a Gi; I ended up going every day of the week. Training here was one of the highlights of my trip, and would love to visit again. Obrigado!

Safe environment to train.....speaking as a white belt of a few months. Went over scissor sweep covering finer details of technique + good rolls......also the gym is very close the central area and local restaurants so you can go for a lovely stroll after training and try local cuisine

It was my first time trying brazillian jiu jitsu and they did a fantastic job of teaching me, even though I do not speak Portuguese. A great community, very welcoming. They speak good English. Shout out to Ema and Carlos, they are wise mentors.
