Carlson Gracie Jiu Jitsu Peniche

Experiência fantástica: I was in Portugal for a couple of months and usually train BJJ at a Carlson Gracie academy in London. I wanted to continue my training whilst abroad so I was really glad to see a Carlson Gracie academy set up in Portugal - I messaged Alex Perreira (head coach) on Instagram and he invited me along for a session. Alex is an excellent coach and a very legit BJJ practitioner - he lives and breathes the sport and it shows during his sessions. He is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the sport, and would take the time to explain the techniques, answer any questions and ensured that everyone in the class understood to get the most out of the drills. The training space is great - clean mats, space for stand-up sparring and wrestling, and a very high standard of BJJ among the team there. Massive shout out to Alex (and Fred & Hugo ;) ) for making me feel like one of the family from day one of training there - I'll definitely be back anytime I'm visiting Portugal again!

Experiência fantástica: Currently staying in Peniche, decided to try BJJ. Came for the first class. Alex devoted me a great deal of time and still doing it (i got a monthly subscription), liked his approach as he didn't focus much on the basics and put me to practise a few moves he showed with more experienced belts so that there's less chance of trauma as they know what they are doing. The atmosphere is indeed friendly and welcoming. Alex speaks fluent english and mixes it easily with Portuguese during coaching so you don't feel left out. Highly recommend.

Alex is a exceptional trainer who is also bilingual. He and his fellow trainers are patient teachers of BJJ with both youth and adults.

Experiência fantástica: I've been training at Alex's academy for the summer and it has been a great experience! Both shared and private classes are highly recommended! Alex has taught me fundamental and key techniques that will undoubtedly strengthen my game. Private lessons are worth it if you want to go further in the application and memorisation. All the practionners are really welcoming and friendly too! Last but not least, Alex is fluent in English & Spanish and was able to provide clear and concise explanations for everybody. Since I spend every summer in Baleal, I'll be back for sure! Muito obrigado Alex :)

Experiência fantástica: Amazing. I took a lesson with Alex and learned a ton! Lots of meticulous details and big picture concepts. Good vibes, clean dojo, and overall an excellent experience. One big added bonus is that Alex is also fluent in English, which helps for those of us who aren’t conversant in Portuguese (yet). I’ll definitely be coming back next time we are in Portugal.

Experiência fantástica: Alex is the consummate professional both on and off the mats. Welcomed me with open arms and I couldn't be more grateful to him. Having not trained since the beginning of the pandemic Alex took the time get me physically fit first through some privates before feeding me to his pack of very polite and welcoming wolves. Lol. All his students were just as welcoming and very good at Jiu Jitsu and with many belt levels in his squad you're sure to get the training you're looking for. Thank you Alex and I'll be back brother!

Experiência fantástica: We spent a month in Portugal and got to Peniche for class about 5 times. Classes and training were effective and safe for me as a black belt and for my son, who is 15 with 8 years of BJJ experience. We come from a wrestling background in the US and Alex was great with a Judo/Greco background in relating some of his favorite techniques to our different styles. Would rate 11/10 if Google allowed it :)

Experiência fantástica: Alex is a great and attentive coach (and fluent in English) and everyone was very welcoming. Gym was clean and traditional, we got access to a changing room with showers. It took us some time to figure out the location as we didn’t see any signs but the entrance to the gym is through a bar. All in all a great time, we attended a nogi evening class that had about 20 people, good warmup, good technique and good rolls! Thanks again. Would love to come again someday.

Experiência fantástica: Amazing training at Jiu Jitsu Peniche with Alex Pereira and a wonderful room of people. Can not recommend it enough. My family and I spent 3 weeks in Baleal and I trained a 2-3 x per week in group classes plus had a few privates with Alex. Alex is a master in his craft, he gives rich instruction simultaneously in both English and Portuguese, and adjusts training according to the varying skill levels present. The privates were amazing. There is a broad mix of nationalities and ages, somehow it all merged into a wonderful training experience. Very grateful to have experienced it. Every person who was there was respectful, kind, supportive and we had fun. We all were acutely aware of how special it was to be taught by Alex too. Experiência fantástica: I trained here for a couple weeks while on holiday earlier in the year. It was a great training room. Nice and bright with plenty of mat space. Alex is a fantastic teacher and very welcoming. We had a group with us of different experience levels and he was accomodating for everyone. He really goes into a lot of detail and explains everything he teaches, so you don't come away with a bunch of random techniques that make no sense but you actually know why and how you do them which allows you to put them into practice. Plus his Pilates ball drills are a game changer for solo training. Thanks for the training Alex OSS

Me and the guys from my gym who traveled to Alex's gym all agreed that we thought it was one of our better experiences and were grateful to learn from such a high level black belt. Experiência fantástica: Moved to Peniche and came across this Jiu Jitsu gym. Simply one word to describe it: amazing. The coach Alex Pereira is a phenomenal athlete as well as a great coach. The environment is very familiar, felt home from day one. The energy is good, the people are friendly, you can breath a jiu jitsu and surf vibe :). Highly highly recommended
