The location is absolutely wonderful. Big, clean rooms. Plentiful breakfast. Nice staff, expecially Clara in the reception as well as her colleague, a nice, young man. The room was cleaned every day. Toiletry products of very good quality. Electric mug with coffee and tea on the house as well as free water in the fridge. Towels for the pool are free. Nice shows with live music every evening on the terraced restaurant. Lot of restaurants and bars nearby. An experience to be repeated.

Nice hotel, great breakfast, good service

Great hotel. A bit far from the city center, around 25min walk. Close to lot of restaurants and bars. You can easily access Lido swimming pools. Supermarkets across the street for a quick shop. The Hotel has all the amenities that you can find in a 5 star hotel.

Only the second day here but already impressed with the place. Great room, attentive staff and pleasant surroundings.

Melia Madeira Mare is an amazing 5 star hotel with all the comfort service and high standards you would expect but done so in a friendly helpful nothing to much trouble way but also very relaxed nothing stuffy made every guest feel specia and comfortablel in a way I have never experienced in any other 5 star all members of staff from the top downwards were amazing a great credit to you all would recommend in a heartbeat and can't wait to hopefully stay again Well done and thank you for helping to make my Husbands special 70th birthday suprise trip ( from our son) even more special can't speak to highly of you all

Very nice hotel in 5 star hotel sector. Plenty of restaurants around and buses 01, 02 & 04 close by to get to centre and marina, or about 20 minutes' walk in lovely weather all year round.. Superb sea views from hotel balcony. Plenty of facilities of all sorts in close proximity. Easy access by bus and cable car to Tropical Garden with fantastic trees, plants and flowers. Absolutely incredible. Don't forget to take a Land Rover tour to the west of the island, including an off-road section. Fantastic! This takes you above the clouds - incredible.

I had a lovely stay at the Melia Madeira Mare, the hotel is very nice, clean and offer all commodities needed. I'm taking time to submit a review as the staff did a wonderful job in sending me back my jacket by postmail (I had forget it in my room) : the service is definitely 5 stars, thank you !

The hotel location is very good, right in front of a beautiful ocean site - pretty cool! And the reception was great! Mr Martin was very helpful, kind and patient. Thank you for help and wish you all the best!

Great hotel, great stay. I've been here for 10 nights half board, and I couldn't fault it. Lovely hotel in every way. Tremendous staff who are attentive, know your name and can't do enough to help. Excellent food, and the breakfast buffet ' particularly good. Lovely facilities and surroundings, and beds, bedrooms and bathrooms all top drawer. Definitely recommended.

I felt at home. Great environment, beautiful place to rest and to enjoy at the same time. The swiming pool is amazing. The GM (Mr. Sanches) is always concerned about the people at the Hotel and their well-being. I had an amazing experience. I do recommend this place for their structure and nice people.

Me and my wife travel the world in the search for great hotels, this is a little Gem. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, you will feel welcome very quickly. Great food and perfect location for evening and afternoon strolls. Highly recommended.

Excelente serviço de hotel e simpatia de todo o pessoal, o melhor que tivemos até hoje, mesmo por comparação com outros hotéis 5 estrelas! Fomos em lua de mel e a estadia foi incrível, recheada de mimos por parte do hotel e do pessoal! Excelente também em termos de acomodações, com bares, restaurantes, happy hours, ginásio, piscina exterior e interior e spa, entre outros aspetos. Tem igualmente ótimo serviço de comida nos quartos, todas as comodidades esperadas num hotel 5 estrelas (minibar, secador de cabelo, produtos de higiene da Rituals, etc.), depósito para reciclagem nos quartos e, até, um pequeno congelador no frigorífico, juntamente com um pequeno espaço de cozinha e todos os acessórios necessários (loiça, talheres, mini placa com 2 bicos, panela, frigideira, lavatório e pequena bancada de cozinha, etc.). O hotel fica bem localizado, com transportes e táxis quase à porta, com possibilidade de caminhar até ao centro. Fica também de frente para o oceano e para o Lido, com pontões e espaços próprios para mandar uns mergulhos no oceano, ficando também não muito longe da praia formosa (praia com areia). Tem igualmente diversos restaurantes e outras comodidades nas proximidades, tais como farmácias, supermercados, lojas, gelataria, etc. Claramente a repetir e a voltar! Hotel deserves it's 5stars with it's staff. Everyone of them have been wonderful, friendly and helpful. Yes the hotel needs a bit of paintwork here and there, but this seems to be in progress at the moment Buffet breakfast and dinner have been very good with something for everyone. The a la carte restsurant is worth trying too. Spa is well pointed and has different sections of treatments and quite good sized gym.

Really good views of the sea. This is the view from our room. Hotel is clean and has a modern friendly vibe about it. We had a superior sea view room which has a large decking private terrace with sun beds and a table with chairs. A huge bathroom with a separate shower and bath, two sinks and a partitioned off toilet with separate bidet. On Saturday night they even had free buffet and a dj. Nice little touches such as iced water in the reception, which makes you wonder why on earth they don't put free soft drinks in the fridge in the room? Instead they charge 4Eu for a small coke??!

Lovely hotel, 2nd time here, fab breakfast, all you could ask for. Staff friendly and helpful, fabulous entertainment in the evening, bar staff efficient, looking forward to return next year, will probably opt for an upgraded room, love the room we are in, but fancy a full on sea view.

Outstanding, this is the 5th time we have stayed here and it gets better every time. Paolo and his staff could not be more helpful. Uplands who cleaned our room was brilliant. If you are thinking of staying at Melia Madeira Mare don’t hesitate. My wife and I love it.

Beautiful hotel, in prime location Staff friendly and attentive. Immaculately clean throughout. Rooms very spacious and comfortable. One tiny negative, would benefit if they had steps down to the promenade some of the other hotels do, as you have to go all the way round the hotel to get there. The walk back up the steep hill is a killer especially if you have mobility problems. Otherwise can't fault the Hotel.

Nice and quiet. Good live music in the bar most nights if you're into that. Decent breakfast. Clean nice rooms. Mattress a bit stiff but I prefer hard mattresses. Do recommend.

A very nice hotel, it has both indoor and outdoor pools. Great breakfast and super helpful staff. Prices are also reasonable. Rooms are large and clean. Will be staying there again.

It is in a very good location. Very nice hotel with excellent staff and good facilities. It is just below a little covered in shopping centre with fabulous laundry facilities which does pickup and drop off in necessary. The hotel is on a hill but so is everywhere else in Madeira! The pedestrian walkways outside the hotel and along the coastal area the hotel is situated is well maintained and very friendly for the not so mobile. All together a great place to base yourself and will return.

From start to finish was all good... We booked direct with the hotel, used Easy jet flights and airport bus (return 8 euros each). This made the holiday so much Cheaper than a package...the position of the is in a very good place (Lido Area) bars, restaurants and supermarkets all close by. Happy Holidays

The reception team are very knowledgeable and the service provided by the bar and restaurant staff is amazing. Lenine looks after guests wonderfully and Luis cooks a great omelette for breakfast.

What a great Holiday. The rooms are 5/5, the Location is 4.6/5 and the Service & facilities are 4.9/5 Stars. The Cleaners and Staff are very friendly. One day, me and the rest of the family were watching TV in the Hotel room and we heard a knock at the door and it was a women who handed us a load of Easter wrapped chocolates. It is easy to access the City. The hotel has a rest area on the 0 floor and the 3 floor. The Hotel also had a pool and a bar area on the 0 floor. The Breakfast there was 4.4/5 Stars. Melia Mare are 9x better than Pestana. When I was their the Hotel was very clean and did not see 1 Cockroach. Defiantly recommend this Hotel to anyone. Thank you Melia Madeira Mare for a great stay.

What a fabulous place to stay in Funchal. From the moment we arrived the service has been excellent. The setting is glorious overlooking the sea. As 4 of us traveling asked for adjoining rooms which we got. We also were greeted with bottle of bubbly to celebrate our anniversary. The rooms are beautiful with double sinks and very large beds. Also have small fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. The lady who did our housekeeping, Ana Rita is so delightful. Not only does she keep the room immaculate but she is helpful on where to go in the island. She is an absolute credit to the hotel. The breakfast team and reception team are equally excellent and nothing is too much trouble. we had an issue where one of our party lost their mobile phone in a taxi and Juano on reception on the evening of Tuesday 7 August was extremely helpful in getting it back. Again the level of customer service displayed was second to none. Breakfast is amazing from Buck’s Fizz to a huge selection of fruit, hams, cheese, eggs of all varieties, bacon, sausage, croissants etc. Poolside bar is great with waiter service. Plenty of sun beds around the pool and towels provided. There is also a night turndown service with a chocolate on your bed. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying on this magnificent island. Have loved every minute of my stay and sad to be going home tomorrow.

Had to spend a night here after my flight got delayed for another day. Best hotel I've stayed at so far. The room was great, the staff was helpful and sympathetic.

The rooms were maintained to a high standard and were both comfortable and spacious. The hotel was clean, tidy and had a high quality finish. All staff were helpful and pleasant.

Famous and well located 5* Hotel. The rooms, breakfast, service and quite all of it here is clearly well managed and maintained. We expected some higher standards, but they are way higher there. Really excellent hotel with nice views to the sea. Loved the breakfast buffet. Many senior guest (especially from Germany). Free parking lot to use for rental cars. Outdoor pool is nice with ocean view.

Very quite and comfortable. Only had buffet breakfasts and poolside lunches and they were very good indeed. Would happily go back and recommend.

Very luxurious hotel offering lots of entertainment (sports, music, spa and more) a nice restaurant with a broad cuisine and especially proper food. Staff is extremely good and polite. Pricing high side but worth it for those willing to afford.

Wonderful hotel with very helpful friendly staff. Great location. Breakfast was excellent.Room was spacious with balcony and an ocean view. Indoor pool was a good length for swimming and cooling off. Gym was small but had enough equipment for workouts. A perfect base for our walking holiday in Madeira.
